27 de Setembro de 2005 serão celebrados os dois <B
style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">anos desde o lançamento da missão SMART-1
da Agência Espacial Europeia (ESA) rumo à Lua</B>.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Esta missão que teve como objectivo
principal o testar de novas tecnologias durante o seu primeiro ano e meio, e
como segundo objectivo o obter informação sobre a composição química,
mineralogia e morfologia da superfície lunar.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Para este fim, SMART-1 contem a bordo
vários instrumentos científicos, sendo </SPAN><SPAN

aqueles que fornecem este tipo de informação: <B

style="COLOR: black"> Fevereiro de 2005 em funcionamento e a obter dados que
ajudarão a melhor compreender como a Lua originou (qual a relação com a Terra e
sua posição no Sistema Solar, qual a sua composição química e mineralógica, e
qual a sua historia evolutiva (impactos e formação de crateras e vulcanismo), e
tinham como período de funcionamento 6 meses ou seja até Agosto de 2005.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Devido ao bom funcionamento dos
instrumentos científicos e porque 6 meses não são suficientes para colecta
global de dados da Lua para investigação, a missão foi prolongada por mais 12
meses, até Agosto de 2006.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></SPAN></P>

Vera Assis Fernandes do Instituto Geofísico da Universidade de Coimbra e membro
da equipa científica do instrumento D-CIXS, com apoios logísticos dos III
