Vai-se realizar em Coimbra, no dia *4 de Setembro de 2011*, a seguinte 
/workshop/. Trata-se de um evento paralelo à organização da Conferência 
Internacional do /European Network for Business and Industrial 
Statistics /(ENBIS-11), mas que está aberto a participantes e 
não-participantes na conferência.

• *Statistical graphics: How to make them effective, revealing, and 
beautiful*, apresentada para */Antje Christensen /*e//*/Christian Ritter/*;

"/Sometimes the health of an institution or the lives of the ones we 
love depend on a good graph. If good graphs had been made, the space 
shuttle Challenger would not have exploded, the financial crises may 
have been averted, and we might have found out earlier from our lab 
values that we were running a risk of a heart attack …
This full day workshop is about making good graphs. It introduces the 
participants to a systematic way to construct, look at, and present 
graphs of statistical content in order to reveal structure in data and 
to tell others about it. The course is based on a theory of perception 
as described in the works of E. Tufte, L. Wilkinson, S. Kosslyn, and B. 
Cleveland combined with more general ideas on exploring data and on 
communication about statistical content./"
